Vast amount of data is being generated even at this moment when you're reading this article. As per Google, 2.5 Quintillion (1 Quintillion = 1 million Terabytes) Bytes of data is generated everyday and Google processes almost 20 petabytes (I Petabyte = 1000 Terabytes). 

Most of it is unstructured and if not structured and analyzed properly, leads to the loss of Trillions of USD. To overcome this huge loss of data and the monetary value associated with it the world needs experts who can organize the data in a way that can be analyzed to give meaningful insights. Contemporary example is Covid-19 and the governments were able to control the spread of Covid-19 by analyzing the data about the patients in particular regions.  

But Data Science is more than just data analysis to answer some persisting questions. Data Science is more about predicting the future using the past and current data to make effective decisions about the future. Almost every sector needs a Data Science expert to deal with their data hence increasing the demand of Data Scientists.
